The Chamber is one of just 85 economic development organizations accredited by IEDC

The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) has announced that the Tulsa Regional Chamber again has been recognized as an Accredited Economic Development Organization (AEDO). Originally accredited in April 2012, the organization was reaccredited by IEDC following more than 40 years of activity as an IEDC member.

“The Tulsa Regional Chamber displays the professionalism, commitment and technical expertise that is deserving of this honor,” IEDC President and CEO Nathan Ohle said.

The AEDO program is a comprehensive peer review process that measures economic development organizations against commonly held standards in the profession. The program consists of two phases: a documentation review and an onsite visit. Each phase is designed to evaluate information about the structure, organization, funding, program and staff of the candidate economic development organization.

The Tulsa Regional Chamber is one of just 85 economic development organizations accredited by IEDC.

“Earning reaccreditation from the International Economic Development Council is a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence in economic development,” said Mike Neal, president and CEO of the Tulsa Regional Chamber. “This recognition affirms our dedication to fostering growth, creating opportunities and supporting businesses in our community. We remain focused on driving innovation and collaboration to ensure a vibrant and thriving economy for all.”

An AEDO accreditation tells the community and prospects that the Tulsa Regional Chamber has retained a measure of excellence, assuring that its trust is well-placed and its business is in good hands.

Maintenance of the AEDO status is required every three years and is accomplished through documentation submission and/or onsite visits by a team of the AEDO subcommittee.

“Reaccreditation by the IEDC underscores the strength of our vision, the expertise of our team and the impact of our initiatives, particularly Tulsa’s Future, the Chamber-led regional economic development partnership,” said Kim Wilmes, senior vice president of economic development for the Tulsa Regional Chamber. “It reflects the high standards we uphold in serving businesses and advancing economic progress. We are proud to achieve this distinction and will continue to lead efforts that position our region as a hub for opportunity and prosperity.”

The International Economic Development Council is the largest membership association serving economic and community development professionals in the world. With more than 5,000 members nationwide and abroad, IEDC offers the economic development profession one source for information and professional development, one voice for the profession and one force for advocacy.
