Business Retention

In Tulsa, all business is important — especially with small businesses creating two out of every three jobs in the Tulsa metro area. Tulsa Chamber’s OneVoice Regional Legislative Agenda represents the business-driven consensus on the Tulsa region’s top policy priorities, and is the result of collaboration and input from more than 300 individuals and hundreds of businesses. The City of Tulsa also has several funds available to help in the retention of businesses in the downtown community and beyond.

Launched in 2014, Tulsa’s Future Manufacturers’ Council hosts regular meetings that allow collaboration and discussion of key issues facing related industries. The council focuses on knowledge sharing and the support for workforce development, as well as continuous improvement for participating businesses.

Retaining talent is crucial for a successful business, and northeast Oklahoma has several programs to help companies maintain momentum. Tulsa is one of 22 talent hubs that has received grant funding through the Lumina Foundation, helping to align graduates from post-secondary programs to the needs of the local business community. Tulsa Chamber’s Young Professionals (TYPROS) also work to attract and retain the region’s budding talent.
